The 5th volume of “Chronicles of Terror” is the first of three dedicated to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The accounts include details of the living conditions, forced labor, and the punishment and execution methods that were employed at the camp complex. Of particular interest are the testimonies of the members of the Sonderkommando picked out to perform extraordinarily onerous work connected to the German-led extermination of Jews and the eradication of other Slavic nations. The final chapter also includes accounts of the activity of the underground resistance movement at the camp.

The 6th volume of “Chronicles of Terror” is the second dedicated to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp complex. Former inmates, male and female citizens of pre-war Poland as well as witnesses from other European nations, talk about the fate of the women and children interned at the camp. They reveal the details of the atrocious living conditions in the women’s camp, the crimes committed by their German overseers, the experiments into mass sterilization and the extermination of Jews and prisoners of other nationalities, including children.

This volume of "Chronicles of Terror" is the last of three devoted to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The accounts gathered here concern the fates of victims of German camp doctors. The testimonies describe not only the experiments conducted on camp inmates, but also the involvement of German medical staff in murdering prisoners and selecting them for gassing. At the same time, the witnesses depict the efforts of Polish doctors and nurses who sought to provide aid to their fellow prisoners.

This is the first volume of "Chronicles of Terror" to deal exclusively with the victims of Soviet repression; it contains the testimonies of Polish soldiers who were taken into Soviet captivity in 1939–1941. These soldiers went on to join Anders’ Army and noted their experiences in questionnaires prepared by the Military Historical Bureau in the Middle East in 1943.
